The National Audit Office

The National Audit Office of the Faroe Islands is an independent institution under the authority of the Parliament (Føroya Løgting). The National Audit Office of the Faroe Islands examines that the public accounts are correct, that accountancy and controls are adequate, and that funds are used in compliance with granted budget appropriations, applicable legislation and other regulation. Furthermore, an evaluation shall be made as to whether sound economic management has been applied to the administration of the funds. The National Audit Office of the Faroe Islands assists the Parliament’s Audit Committee, and the Auditor General is secretary to the Committee.
